Frequently Asked Questions

What is Titanfall Online and TFORevive?
Titanfall Online was a cancelled free to play first person shooter game based on Titanfall 1 and developed for Korean/Asian market. Its development begun in 2016 and suddenly ceased in 2018, after seeing a few beta test periods in South Korea.

TFORevive project was founded to restore the playability of that game, in order to let people just play it and enjoy it, and in order to explore and expand the modding capabilities to something we have never seen before in the Titanfall series. We aim to provide a good and smooth end-user experience to everyone.

We have worked hard on this for many months and we believe the result was worth it. Hopefully the players will share our opinion, because no game can survive without its community.

We look forwards to see you on the Frontier, pilots!
How is that even possible?!
We are a team of talented reverse engineers and developers, so it's easy for us.

In seriousness though, we had access to an archived public copy of Titanfall Online. And we always knew that there was a mysterious server_local.dll among the files. After some work we managed to run the game, start a local server and connect two clients together. Then the project has begun and we started our work on rewriting the missing components.
Wait... weren't you the hackers, the bad guys?
No. You may have heard some of the allegations made against us during the drama that took place surrounding the Titanfall community in the summer of 2021.

A group of people tried to wrongfully accuse us and the project of various bad deeds such as attacking official Titanfall servers, by misrepreseting out-of-context screenshots in malicious way and coordinating an organized smear campaign.

In reality, the project was founded as a direct response to Titanfall 1 servers being completely down and unplayable due to the attacks at the time, which gave us a new burst of motivation to poke around archived Titanfall Online files. In the meantime, we've also sent Respawn a full list of known exploits present in vanilla Titanfall 1 servers so that they could bring them back online, which they eventually used to do so.

If you want to know the full story, we have an in-depth response document here: RedTape Response. It is worth reading if you are interested in following everything that happened and seeing every detail broken down.

In short:
  • We haven't been attacking any of the Titanfall games.
  • One of the primary accusers has been pushing people to attack Apex Legends servers themselves and praising such events.
  • Authors of the accusations were, in fact, found to have been cooperating with one of the Titanfall attackers.
  • They gradually kept accusing more and more people, of more and more ridiculous things.
  • Eventually they took down their website and wiped evidence of their actions from Discord and Reddit.

It also may be worth watching this video, which gives a fair summary of what happened:

Why would I want to play this if Titanfall 1 exists? These games are almost the same!
Titanfall 1 is no longer being sold, which leaves a massive group of players who may never get to enjoy what Titanfall 1 was like.

Besides, this game has quite a few changes, improvements, additions, and in general, a breath of fresh air. It's worth to try out!

Titanfall 1 is passe now. Titanfall Online is our future.
What are the hardware requirements for the game?
TFORevive recommendations:

OS: Windows 10 or 11 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core 11th Generation or newer / AMD Ryzen 5000 Series or newer
RAM: 16 GB or more
GPU: with 4 GB of VRAM or more
DirectX version: DirectX 11.3

The above are our recommendations for maximum performance and security, the game will still run on hardware not meeting these requirements. Mentioned processors support improved hardware security features. Using an operating system older than Windows 10 is not recommended due to subpar security and software compatibility.

Will I get banned from Origin or Steam for playing this?
No. Titanfall Online has never used or depended on EA Origin or Steam for its functionality, it is not tied or dependent on them in any way, as such they cannot detect or ban your account. We use our own system for player accounts, as all the original services are down by now.
Are you affiliated with EA, Respawn or Nexon?
No!!! This is a 100% unofficial project backed by the community. For any support with TFORevive, you must not go to any of these companies.
We want to make it clear at every point that there is no affiliation or association with these companies and that there is nobody mistaken to believe so.
Is Electronic Arts (EA) okay with all this?
Based on previous commentary, EA has stated that as long as their copyrights and trademarks are not blatantly infringed, they are content with community efforts to keep their legacy games running.

Also, we don't believe that our project is a competition in any way to their Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends games, due to the major differences from this game. Titanfall Online (cancelled free-to-play) is a spiritual successor to Titanfall 1 (now delisted from sales), which was always in the shadow of the spotlight of these two major titles.
